October 22-26, 2019,the Congressional Medal of Honor Convention was held in Tampa, FL with over 46 recipients attending.
This evening, October 22, twenty MOH heroes, young and old, attended a reception and concert at the Straz Performing Arts Center, Tampa, FL. AUSA Suncoast Chapter was represented as member Craig Gross and Chapter Officer, JROTC VP, Toni Gross were grateful to be invited to honor the MOH heroes.
It was certainly a humbling experience to learn these hero’s stories of “conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of life above and beyond the call of duty”. Also present were the Army JROTC Cadets from Alonso HS who posted the colors and then mingled with the heroes as well.
MOH LeRoy Petry , pictured above with the prosthetic arm, warmly greeted the children’s choir as did all of the other MOH recipients (see photo above). A stand up banner of Leroy is attached below. Many thanks and much gratitude is due these humble men.
